clouds

I'm in love with looking up at the clouds. I want, so badly, for there to be big fluffy clouds on our wedding day. I just think they add interest to the photos and are just plan beautiful. I know on the day I wont really care, but it would be lovely. Compared to the boring blue sky. After saying that we'll probably get rain! Although I would love some puddle reflection photos.

I'm writing this from bed. I was in hospital yesterday after a week of headaches, photophobia, dizziness, vomiting... and about 8 other symptoms that resulted in the doctor suspecting H1N1 and instructing me to stay in bed for another week. I am so bored, but due to the photophobia I cant bare to look at the laptop screen for to long or the tv, and the headache makes concentrating on reading impossible and the balance problems make getting up very difficult.

I'm just so tired and so sad, because I really love my job and I only have so many more weeks before they find someone permenant for the position so I feel this time is time wasted and an opportunity missed.

Must go xoxo

Destination: Spain

WANT TO SEE: Barcelona
The following is taken from an awesome website I found called http://www.veggieplaces.co.uk/vegetarian_barcelona.html
A website that should be able to help prevent starvation on the european stretch of our honeymoon.
Barcelona:
Following it's redevelopment in the decades before, Barcelona has become one of the most popular of European city destinations and it's not hard to see why. Well planned, wide boulevards, with sensible pedestrian crossing procedures, make it a joy to explore on foot. The buildings are stunning, there is a coffee shop on every corner. It's a buzzing city with an equally busy port and has a heady mix of old and new.

Rhys and I went and had breakfast at Mt Cootha the other morning, looking up at the single cloud, as I currently am obsessed with clouds. We sat on the deck enjoying the view, we had a conversation that went something like this:
R: We'll see a lot of this next year.
Me: Of Brisbane?
R: No views, when you go to a new city you usually find a high point and look out over the city
Me: I think all the roofs are the same colour
R: In Greece?
Me: yeah and somewhere in California. Where do you think we'll be this time next year?
R: Hmmm Italy? Venice maybe.
Me: On the canals?
R: Sure
Pause
Me: 6 months is not enough time
R: Yeah. At least its a start, we can go back.
Me: True, we can make a list of places we want to explore again.
R: After the kids have left
*rolls eyes* Me: well at least we'll have this time together and this adventure, too many people end up in hospital when they're older and miss out....
Pause
R: You wouldn't be happy if today was our wedding day would you?
Me: How'd you know?
Both: Only one cloud.

Where I get my entertainment

So I've been home alone for a couple of days, wishing more than anything I could be at work.
But lets face it, if standing up makes you want to throw up, you are no use in a hospital.
On my TV: TV box series Rome or Gossip Girl (both awesome).
On my laptop: Facebook running Restaurant City, one wedding website and YouTube watching "Know Your Meme" - watching play them off keyboard cat - it's hilarious.
On my radio: Nova or B105
Drinking: water. I've recently given up V as I found out what Taurine is. To understand how massive this is I have probably has a V every morning for 5-6 years. I've attempted to give it up several times, but being a vegetarian, this time I mean it. I really wish I didn't know want Taurine is.
Eating: Bananas

At Home From Work.

Hi there,
What’s on my mind lately?
Well firstly I am extremely frustrated I’ve had 2.5 days off work with a mystery illness (some where between a chronic migraine and a sinus infection, mum keeps saying H1N1 just to upset me). I just want to be back at work. At this rate I'll be back to work on Monday.
Wedding News:
We’ve been invited to a wedding in November, the beautiful bride to be has made the nicest pocket invitations that give me hope that it is possible to make your own invitations and have someone pick them up going “Did you make these?!” I’m very excited about their wedding and you’ll probably be hearing more about it after the fact.
Music: ah music, I’ve been thinking about wedding music since Rhys proposed, considering the typical wedding music makes me a little queasy, or my eyes involuntarily roll back. Songs I’m loving at the moment include:
Chris Brown – Forever
Black Eyed Peas – Tonight
And this is something I’m thinking for the procession of the bridal party:

The list of songs that we wont play is longer:
No Abba
No songs by Australian Idol contestants
No boybands
No sad break up songs (I've heard 'I will survive' played at a wedding)

We just want happy songs that are hopefully not cheesy... I'm way too particular about lyrics and will probably still be looking at what songs to play late next April.

Marrying an Engineer

Rhys is an engineer. I never knew what an engineer was until I met Rhys and even then I initially associated engineers with the railroad and couldn't tell you the difference between an engineer and an architect (Note: if you want to upset an engineer very quickly, just ask the difference between an engineer/architect or say something about it being basically the same thing - endless entertainment).

Engineers have certain... characteristics. One of my favourite quotes comes from Memoirs of a Geisha and goes something like "Never ask an engineer how something works because he WILL tell you."

Anyway I took Rhys along to the cake tasting (deciding at the last minute that he could come, as I was considering keeping it a surprise). Anyway the awesome "caker" was saying he'd wanted some 3D models of cakes to use as templates, saying that some graphics people had said it was not possible. Rhys being Rhys, told the cake artist that it would in fact be reeeeally easy. Came home and put together about 5 models usings the measurements for our cake as a starting point (round - 3 tiers).

The Cake Man said he is very CLEVER. lol.

A very wedding day

I can't help but wonder if anyone even reads this!

but oh well...

This morning we got down to some more wedding related bits and pieces.

We finally had an appointment with the cake maker from Sweetums. And I was not disappointed. Our cake will be a modified version of the one to the left (which I think I picked about a year ago). It's going to be lemon and chocolate flavoured. We took some samples home and YUM! Even though it was just samples it tasted better than any cake I've had before. I'm so excited about our wedding cake, I hope the guests love it half as much as we do.
We also went to eckersleys for some paper to start putting together some mock ups for invitations.
We have about 8-9 kinds of paper. To be honest I'm still not sure if making them is the wisest thing...

something to get excited about

We can (in theory) book our honeymoon from now on!
*Squeal*
I know I should be all excited about the wedding and I am, but thats one day and our honeymoon is going to be the best six months of our married life (hopefully).
To be young and free and running around the world. People live to regret not doing what we get to do so young.
I put the first itinerary together and it is awesome!
From Brisbane to Sydney to LA to Canada to New York to Ireland to London to Paris to Athens to Helsinki to Phuket... ahhhh and everywhere we drive in between.

WANT TO BOOK EVERYTHING NOW AND LEAVE TOMORROW...

Longer blog later

I started blogging yesterday, but was so tired that I gave up and went to bed.
I've been so tired lately! Work's been a bit busy. But better that then no work, I was going a bit stir crazy being at home.

But some time to get wedding stuff done might be nice.

Next month I think I'll focus on cake and music...

;) ah too lazy

with 9 months to go

I'm just trying to think what I was doing 9 months ago. If I think in terms that I was just finishing my final exams for speech. That was ages ago!

I was at work past 6 today, so I've gone and started a blog that I can't be bothered finishing, lol.

Oh my florist has a new website:
http://www.katedawesflowerdesign.com.au/Wedding_directory.html

Check it out, she is awesome.

I'm going to watch some bad TV and have an early night.
