The good and the bad

Well I did not get my job, so I have two more weeks to go! Lucky the same hospital has offered me work til the November (for sure) and maybe even up until Christmas.
I would have loved to be permanent, but casual pay is pretty good... and variety would be nice.

As this weekend, The dress is now living with us upstairs. These are photos of me trying on the dress and a close up of the veil. I wish I could post up all the pics we took, but where would be the fun in that?

I'm now doing my head in with bridesmaids dresses. I'm finding styles I like that dont come in the colours, a designer that has the colours but no dresses that quite suit. Plus it REALLY sucks that they don't have the dresses in the store, so we were trying on dresses that have similar features. It's not good enough. When you're spending $1200 on 3 dresses they should at least have one in store.

So we've started looking for a dress maker. I have a design in mind.

Found it!

The dress that is.
Within budget and I love it!
Poor mum, mum who hates all things wedding, was right there with me when I tried what could have only been dress number 99.
I immediately felt like a princess. I could see mum's face when I said this was my dress, it said:
*Could we please check the price tag first*
I had, it was in budget, and she was happy too.
I stood there in my dress as happy as anything, and mum decided this was the time to tell the sales lady ALL about my traumatic childhood. The wheelchairs, the anorexia, the special school, the many many many abusive teachers. They shared a mutual dislike of teachers. I could only laugh, seeing as my FMIL is a teacher (We all love that teacher).
Now that I've found the dress I don't think I can put it up on the blog!
I'm dying to show my BMs, my MOH and maybe my FMIL when she gets back from the north on the condition that she doesn't mention that she is a teacher.

This week in wedding land

The Dress

I found the dress on the left in Melbourne, Sophia Tolli - 'Annette.'

I went to the only place that stocks that brand in Brisbane and they are one season behind.

But I tried on a dress by the same designer and think I may like it better, but Mum HATES it (I guess that only adds to the appeal) and I'm not sure if it suits me (as mums opinion was decidedly biased).
This game is not as fun as I thought it would be.
I thought I would walk in and there it would be.
I guess the last time I looked for a gown I was 40kgs and a size 8. Damn I wish I was her (by that I mean extremely unhealthy skinny weight me of the past).
You know she only ever ate like Maccas and take away (yes I still mean me) and she couldn't really walk so its not like she exercised either. Dang medications!
Enough on weight.
Lets talk height. I had a bone scan yesterday and the lovely lady took my height. Went over to the computer, did a double take. Came back and measured me again. Looked at the computer. Muttered it's impossible.
I've grown 10cm since I was 15 years old. I was 149cm, I thought that I was 154cm now, turns out I'm 159cm! How awesome is that? Thats 5 foot 2 1/2 inches. Go height!
The second photo, currently dress love of my life is 'Irene' by Sophia Tolli.
The florist
Found one! If the quote doesn't make me scream too loud in horror then that is BOOKED!
The Chapel
The Chapel? anyone who knows me from a bar of soap would say.
Yes we're getting married in a chapel that rents the grounds out for civil ceremonies.
Broadway Chapel.
Rhys says
So thats about every thing done then?
Tori says, after her heart starts again:
Baby all we have booked is two venues and a photographer. What about everything else?

Fast forward, wake me up this time next year

We are finally almost there. And by there I mean, ONE YEAR to go. So really we are almost at the end of a big waiting line getting ready to go into another. But I don't care there is something about knowing that this winter will be my last winter as a *insert maiden name here.*
I think I may have found my dress!
I've been shopping with mum, lovely bridesmaid, lovely MOH, and my Aunty.
The most recent was in Melbourne with my Aunty who was able to find me 'wedding dress street.'
I haven't seen anything like it in Brissy.
High St, Armadale. Ever second shop was full of bridal gowns! It was wonderful, exhausting, but wonderful.
Anyway since I'm too lazy to go into any more detail right now, if you'd like to see the dress I'm hoping to find here in Brissy.

The first real look for 'the dress'

This week, I have finally talked someone into taking me dress shopping (hoo-ray).
It's my mum, she's not very into weddings. Loves Rhys, hates weddings.
I've tried on two wedding dresses before, mid last year, my lovely MOH took me shopping just so I could try on a dress.
The people at the shop didn't take me very seriously when I said 2010, but I know that white suits me better than Ivory.
The first trip will just be to figure out what I want and how much I'll have to spend. I'll only buy it if my MOH approves.
What am I looking for?
- a white dress
- a simple dress with one or two features that stand out
- a strapless dress
- not to spend much more than $1000
