Just over 3 months

I'm going to consider all pre-wedding thoughts normal until told otherwise.
Today was - there are SO many cool wedding ideas out there and now its to late.
I'm going to partially blame wedding sites like green wedding shoes for that.

Sure you can store all the ideas away for your friends wedding or future sister in laws wedding. But I know I just wont get the creative say that I have with ours.

Pfft Ri's sister will probably get married at the very top of a snowy mountain, overseas, in green and completely ignore any normal ideas.

Come to think of it snowy wedding photos are quite pretty.

Anyway back to what I was thinking about: I'm going over everything in my head and reminding myself that I LOVE that idea and that is why we're doing it.

The invitations are ALMOST FINISHED.
I LOVE them.
I LOVE the colours.
I LOVE my dress.
I LOVE the cake.

I LOVE that we only have to do this once.

No phone line and no internet make Tori something something

Next door has just finished building a house on their block of land. It was decided that a fence and concrete would go between the two houses. The builders putting in the concrete PULLED OUT our phone line. No phone (except mbls). No internet. No TiVo.

So that is why this blog is being neglected. We're very busy on the wedding side of things. This internet loss could not have come at a worse time!

Wedding land:

Invites: the dead line for the completion of the invites is next Friday! I'll post up some photos once everyone has gotten their invite. It all still looks like a pile of ribbon satin and paper scraps!

Dresses: The BMs had their first fitting this weekend! Considering a fellow bride to be, that is getting married in August has their BM dresses in the closet ready to go, I was feeling slack for waiting so long! But I think the timing will work out well. Fitting two is in late Feb.

Honeymoon: We've booked one hotel. For the wedding night in Brisbane. I'm trying to process all the information for the North American leg and possibly organise visa's for the European leg. Overwhelmed much?

Great Ideas

With just about 4.5 months to go we're current so busy with this wedding that we're busy all the time. Yesterday for example we booked our dressmaker! It's such a relief to have someone booked to make the bridesmaid dresses, I was beginning to think that we'd left it too late. I also was called into work (second on call weekend in a row to prevent Christmas poverty). Then we booked and paid for our HONEYMOON flights. Bought some MORE ribbon and glue (Ri is so into the invites, it's really cute, he actually said *do you think this ribbon is thinner than the stuff at home* my response "I don't know, I don't care, who will notice").

Anyway in a rare act of being social for the second weekend in a row, last night we went to a beautiful friends 25th birthday and got some great tips from another couple who have been to Thailand a few times, afterwards I told Ri that I was SO excited about booking the flights that I couldn't help but tell everyone, but by the time I listed off the countries to the last person I told I braced myself for the travel advice, and Ri was like "Yeah I was listening to the couple thinking, *I won't remember that city* *nope I won't remember that beach either* *and I definately won't remember to look up the "beach beginning with H next to the other beach*"

Today we got the engagement proofs back and OMG the photos are so amazing!

The photo on this blog is of a bathbomb from Lush, I bought about 10 to use between now and the wedding. SO GOOD for muscle/joint pain.

Less than six months to go

With less than six months to go, we've started making the invites and I have to say that they look AMAZING. Much better than I ever expected Rhys and I would be able to manage.
I'll post up some pics once that have been sent out.
We've put together the guest list.

The engagement photos are nowhere to be seen. Five weeks after the fact. Sigh. Karma for making the photographer shoot in the rain? I just could not bare the idea of having to get ready again. I'd had a facial, got my nails done, hair and makeup. I will post them once I get my hands on them. I'm sure that they will be great.

The dress is the dress my MC is having made for the wedding. Except in blue. She is going to be my something blue.

We went to a wedding on Saturday the 7th! I would like to congratulate the bride and groom on a beautiful day.
Their part of the ceremony was beautiful. The priest however told us how people still say that he looks young to be a priest (???) and then told us the meaning of life is this this this. Whatever that may be. The bride looked amazing and the theme was good fun (Tiffany and Co) I would have a great time. Except at the ceremony I got a migraine and by the time the other guests were cheering the arrival of the bride and groom at the reception I was bent over the toilet throwing up. I had to go home at 8. To throw up some more. Sleep. Throw up. You get the idea.

It's our first Christmas do this weekend. Ri's family are having an early christmas because his sis is going to India for the holidays.

They are having a secret santa.

I got Al.

I don't do secrets.

At Home From Work.

Hi there,
What’s on my mind lately?
Well firstly I am extremely frustrated I’ve had 2.5 days off work with a mystery illness (some where between a chronic migraine and a sinus infection, mum keeps saying H1N1 just to upset me). I just want to be back at work. At this rate I'll be back to work on Monday.
Wedding News:
We’ve been invited to a wedding in November, the beautiful bride to be has made the nicest pocket invitations that give me hope that it is possible to make your own invitations and have someone pick them up going “Did you make these?!” I’m very excited about their wedding and you’ll probably be hearing more about it after the fact.
Music: ah music, I’ve been thinking about wedding music since Rhys proposed, considering the typical wedding music makes me a little queasy, or my eyes involuntarily roll back. Songs I’m loving at the moment include:
Chris Brown – Forever
Black Eyed Peas – Tonight
And this is something I’m thinking for the procession of the bridal party:

The list of songs that we wont play is longer:
No Abba
No songs by Australian Idol contestants
No boybands
No sad break up songs (I've heard 'I will survive' played at a wedding)

We just want happy songs that are hopefully not cheesy... I'm way too particular about lyrics and will probably still be looking at what songs to play late next April.

A very wedding day

I can't help but wonder if anyone even reads this!

but oh well...

This morning we got down to some more wedding related bits and pieces.

We finally had an appointment with the cake maker from Sweetums. And I was not disappointed. Our cake will be a modified version of the one to the left (which I think I picked about a year ago). It's going to be lemon and chocolate flavoured. We took some samples home and YUM! Even though it was just samples it tasted better than any cake I've had before. I'm so excited about our wedding cake, I hope the guests love it half as much as we do.
We also went to eckersleys for some paper to start putting together some mock ups for invitations.
We have about 8-9 kinds of paper. To be honest I'm still not sure if making them is the wisest thing...

Under it

Have gotten back into the planning.
Although I am more interested in my current work, I love being a speechie.
I've decided I'm going to spend my recent earnings on my dream cake from:
http://www.sweetums.com.au/

Don't even ask how much the cake will cost!!
But it's my, Dear me, Good job at work, love me.

We've been thinking about invitations and trying to decide between making them and getting them made.

I was thinking on the way home that when it comes down to - what would I rather spend money or time? Right now time seems more valuable. Maybe thats because for the last six weeks we've both been working full time. We get home from work, eat, sleep and go back to work (I do love it). Weekends are becoming interesting, when I'm tired (and I get this from mum) I don't feel like seeing people. Rhys and I are perfectly happy to just chill out at home, alone watch dvds, read books and eat baked goods (hmmm, old at 24). I wonder if thats a bad thing.

My point is, I would rather spend more on the invites and have another relaxing weekend with Ri.
