Last year Ri booked us this beautiful 3 night stay at a place in the gold coast hinterlands -O'Reileys I believe. It was perfect, no tv, no phones, just the two of us.
So this year I've decided to do the only thing a good wife to be would do on the valentines day before our wedding. Exactly 11 weeks before our big day. 77 days.
I'm leaving Ri in Brisbane and going down to Melbourne for four days with my cousin, for shopping, make-up trials, eating and shopping. Heck yeah.
I did ask him before I booked the flight. I still felt a mild bit of guilt as I booked the flight. THEN EXCITEMENT.
We agreed to change the date of valentines day to the 7th. We've shown each other the gifts we bought. And we have decided on where to eat. Doesn't sound very romantic, but I don't care, we're going to Paris and Venice this year... we can catch up on the romance there.

I am a speech pathologist

I'm having such a good day. I had a bad day yesterday, let's just say there was a disagreement over the wording of our wedding invites. Mum doesn't want her name on the same invite as dad. They live in the same house. I didn't mean anything by putting all my immediate families name on a trial invite. I haven't even printed it out on our paper yet! I'd just used their names in the trial to see how it looked with names/alignment. Also I had written Ri and I were the hosts. I ended up bursting into tears in the office at work, I was overwhelmed with a *I can't please anyone* feeling.
Mum and I have kissed and made up, she doesn't mean to say somethings aloud and then I'm too sensitive. There is no problem there.
But today has been one of those days.
Beautiful sky, working airconditioner, half day at work. Got me thinking how lucky I am...
It's been over a year since I graduated with my masters in speech pathology and I am really beginning to feel less like a new grad and more like a speechie.
I love my job.
I love that I have work up until our wedding!!!
I love my work place.
I think my workmates are AWESOME.
I fell into the right area of speech pathology.
Ri is perfect. Today alone he has:
Gotten up early to run me a bath before work. Made breakfast. Made Lunch. Dropped me at work. Picked me up during his lunch break.
The things I'm stressing about are so small that they don't matter. Or so big that they've got to wait til we get back.
I've been wishing time away, waiting to be married, that I haven't stopped to appreciate wow I am a speech pathologist!

Marrying an Engineer

Rhys is an engineer. I never knew what an engineer was until I met Rhys and even then I initially associated engineers with the railroad and couldn't tell you the difference between an engineer and an architect (Note: if you want to upset an engineer very quickly, just ask the difference between an engineer/architect or say something about it being basically the same thing - endless entertainment).
Engineers have certain... characteristics. One of my favourite quotes comes from Memoirs of a Geisha and goes something like "Never ask an engineer how something works because he WILL tell you."
Anyway I took Rhys along to the cake tasting (deciding at the last minute that he could come, as I was considering keeping it a surprise). Anyway the awesome "caker" was saying he'd wanted some 3D models of cakes to use as templates, saying that some graphics people had said it was not possible. Rhys being Rhys, told the cake artist that it would in fact be reeeeally easy. Came home and put together about 5 models usings the measurements for our cake as a starting point (round - 3 tiers).
The Cake Man said he is very CLEVER. lol.
