Our Vows

I spent Australia day writing our wedding ceremony.
I had a document on my laptop with like 5 scripts. I started a NEW document on Ri's computer and just typed and I think they turned out ok (It's the whole ceremony, not just the vows). Bits are from the internet, including 3 readings from the non-religious sites. Here is one:

An excerpt from "A Farewell to Arms" by Ernest Hemingway At night, there was the feeling that we had come home, feeling no longer alone, waking in the night to find the other one there, and not gone away; all other things were unreal. We slept when we were tired and if we woke the other one woke too so one was not alone. Often a man wishes to be alone and a woman wishes to be alone too and if they love each other they are jealous of that in each other, but I can truly say we never felt that. We could feel alone when we were together, alone against the others. We were never lonely and never afraid when we were together.

  1. Tori,
This is a gorgeous reading - I'm sure that at one time in my life I read A Farewell to Arms, but I can't honestly recall it at this moment. It's so beautiful - it perfectly sums up my thoughts on a great relationship. Right now as I type this in one room, my husband is in another doing his thing and daughter is in her room doing her thing. It's like this often (we've been married 8 years) and the perfect thing is - it's fine like this. We are together, and yet separate beings.

Anyway, it's a great reading to include at your Wedding. :)
